Mar 21, 2023Bolt Opens Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Hub in Stockholm | Future Transport-News
Bolt has opened its first ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in central Stockholm, featuring four high-speed chargers for exclusive use by Bolt drivers.
This new facility allows drivers to spend less time finding a charging station and more time on the road, maximising their earning potential.
The new Bolt EV charging hub, developed in partnership with JB Charge, is equipped with four ultra-fast chargers, each capable of delivering up to 150 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes. Operating 24/7, the hub services up to 200 electric vehicles daily.
Through the Monta app, drivers can book charging slots and join a virtual queue, so they can continue working until their turn to charge arrives.
We are committed to adding more electric vehicles to our platform across all markets. As cities introduce regulated areas, we’ve identified a clear need among drivers for more fast-charging options to avoid lengthy commutes and preserve earnings. Bolt’s first EV charging hub is a step toward making fast charging more accessible and affordable for our drivers.
A recent Bolt survey of over 7,000 drivers across seven countries revealed that 90% of EV drivers charge daily, with 80% noting that charging directly impacts their earnings.
Additionally, 70% of Bolt’s drivers rely solely on public charging facilities due to the lack of personal charging options.
The survey also highlighted that one-fifth of EV drivers spend over 30 minutes each day just finding and commuting to an available charging station.
The hub therefore helps mitigate these drawbacks and supports Stockholm’s shift toward fossil-fuel-free zones, offering Bolt’s EV drivers quick, reliable access to charging in regulated urban areas.
We believe shared mobility platforms are essential to accelerating EV use, which helps reduce reliance on private cars. Charging access remains a primary enabler of zero-emission mobility. Bolt’s focus is on making the EV experience seamless and affordable for our drivers. As more drivers transition to EVs, we look forward to scaling this pilot to other cities in Sweden and Europe.
